    Do you think this pedal is better than the boss IR-2 for a live gig use ? I'm thinking about which one to buy, boss one seems to allow you to have 2 amps settings in one pedal, but I don't know which one will sound the best....

    • @Tone-Quest
      @Tone-Quest Годину тому

      Sorry for the delay in replying, but I've been out of town. Which would be better for live gig's, the Boss IR-2 or the Bloka Mugt Amp Sim??? Great question, but as with most things it comes down to use case, budget/price and style of music for which unit would be best. As you mentioned, you can go between two amp settings which could be very useful. On the Bloka Mugt Amp Sim, you can't switch on the fly between two amps, so you would more than likely dial in a clean tone and use pedals to make it crunchy or clean. Brand new the Boss IR-2 cost $200 and the Bloka Mugt Amp Sim new costs $100, so a little price difference is a $100. If it was me and I had to pick between the Boss IR-2 and the Bloka Mugt Amp Sim, I would probably lean toward the Boss IR-2, but that is if you like the amp sounds on the Boss IR-2. I think the Boss IR-2 is a little more versatile, the size is a little more pedalboard friendly. If you haven't seen "Direct Recording Guitar" video using the Boss IR-2, check out this video as you might find it interesting. ua-cam.com/video/r92Lv3faHSQ/v-deo.html

I’m not saying my methodology was perfect but nonetheless was just a methodology I selected at the time. I did use VST tracks, but the VST I was using needed some audio to give it something to process, so I used a DI guitar track. Since I wasn’t comparing the audio between the two recording setups, the using of different USB audio interfaces was irrelevant IMO.

When I plug an external cab in I hear sound as expected, but with no speaker cable plugged in the internal speaker is dead quiet. I can hear the amp with headphones as well. It seems the issue is between the jack and the speaker but I can't figure out what. I've tried redoing the connections in multiple places but no luck. I'm tempted to say screw it and just turn the amp into a head because that functionality works but I'd still like to be able to use the internal speaker.

    Just a terrible video from the ai sounding voices to seemingly maybe even being created by ai due to the really bad attempt at demo'ing the pedals and concepts. The graphics don't show any differences in the knob settings as we go from very clean to very distorted so we have no idea of what is changing or what we are listening to at all. As to latency questioning this is simply ridiculous. These are all analog pedals. (Clones of the old Tech21 Character Series) so of course there is no latency. I've owned and used the Joyo American for over a year or two now and still sometimes use it as part of my direct practice rig even though more often I use small tube amps. The Joyo has a very subtle cab som so using the American into an amp isn't really and issue even though there is no way of turning off the cabsim built into it. As to going direct the Joyo American makes a decent but not great clean pedal platform between your pedals and a mixer or recording interface. The American excels at clean sound but on it's own the breakup and distortion are kind of like a not so good transistor guitar amp, kind of fizzy and not so great if your bar for guitar tone is set at all towards the higher end. Like I mentioned earlier the cabsim of the American is somewhat gentle and while it can be an ok solution to take care of some of the harshness of gainier sounds going into it doesn't exactly do a great job of it. Going direct I use my guitar into fuzzes and an overdrive then into the American and then into an ADA GCS5 analog cabsim pedal. With the American set clean or just on the very edge of breakup it works quite well along with my other pedals and the GCS5. If you aren't super picky the Joyo is absolutely amazing for it's extremely low cost and even if you are picky it still can be good enough to be useful in some situations.

    • @Tone-Quest
      @Tone-Quest 20 днів тому

      Thanks for your feedback on the video. During the sound samples I showed the settings of the Joyo pedals, but the Flamma amps are their out of the box settings, which are unknown to all. The point is how the Joyo pedals might be used as a cab. As far as latency, we are all at different levels of our journey musically and what might be obvious to some, is not obvious to others, so instead of assuming, I tested and shared my results. Again, thanks for the feedback.

    thats cool you did the test for latency . from my understanding the cab sim in these circuits is merely a capacitor that shapes the tone a bit , it very well be more complicated than that . i do own an American sound pedal and its a very nice sound .

    • @numero6285
      @numero6285 19 днів тому

      To be more exact, the cabinet simulation is not an isolated capacitor but a specific section of the circuit comprising two transistors and various resistors and capacitors. This is not a simple treble filter but a device designed to sculpt an "M" shaped signal (exaggerating a little) on the spectrogram. This filter is very interesting from a musical point of view but it tends to compress the signal in a slightly strange way when you push the Drive. What's funny is that on a forum a Tech21 technician claimed that the cabinet simulation was a simple treble filter and that it was enough to push the HIGH to compensate for it (he insinuated that users were just a bit stupid and that version 2 produced to please them was of no use). This is completely inaccurate if you look at the circuit! Moreover, in the V2 version of the Blonde (which I own), Tech21 has added a drastic treble filter when you deactivate the CAB simulation, so that the sound becomes both different and darker in this configuration.

    great video ! I wanted to ask if you could use the valeton as an audio interface with usb, and use an amp simulator other than the valeton software, i wanted to know if there were any latency. Thank you !

    This is all I needed to know. I make electronic music with Reaper and Renoise and my track count is NEVER that high. Maybe 16 tracks total, some samplers and a couple synths + fx sends. Wasn't sure if this machine could handle music production but clearly it's way overqualified for the job 😂

    Great video! Have you or anyone tried using the Joyo American sound, British or AC tone as just the cab sim. I use the British, keep the voice and gain to near min and it’s fully adjustable. It’s amazing. Not a DI though.

      @@Tone-QuestThe British works great as a cab sim. I wonder how it compares to the Joyo and Behringer DI here though which were very impressive. I had the CAB M and I’m just not a fan of digital it seems but I seek to achieve an amp in the room tone and not something for recording.

    I don't know what you mean by gain sweep amps, are these extra sounds from the tone lab, or is this directly from the unit right out of the box? Great video demo, Rock On & God Bless.

    • @Tone-Quest
      @Tone-Quest Місяць тому

      Sorry for any confusion. Yes, just multiple sound samples with most or all of the setting at noon for the amp, and sweeping the gain from 25%, 50%, 75% and 100%. I would have included 0% but most or all of the amp had no output with the gain at 0%.

    can i use this thru an amp?

    • @Tone-Quest
      @Tone-Quest Місяць тому

      Yes, you can, but with one caveat...as far as I can tell, you can not disable the internal cab section. This isn't necessarily a show stop but just something to note. I actually tried it for the first time this evening by plugging into the return of the effects loop on my 5 Watt Bugera G5 and overall, I would say it sounded pretty decent. However I still would like to disable the cabs.

    • @Supernautiloid
      @Supernautiloid 25 днів тому

      If the circuit is the same as the DSM, you can bypass the cab sim but running out of the FX Send Jack rather than the Output Jack. This should bypass the entire cab sim portion of the circuit.

    • @Tone-Quest
      @Tone-Quest 25 днів тому

      @@Supernautiloid but that would also bypass the power amp section too. I wish they had just included a way to just disable the cab section.

    • @Supernautiloid
      @Supernautiloid 25 днів тому

      @@Tone-QuestAccording the manuals, the power amp sim comes before the FX send. You can see it in the signal flow diagram.

      @Tone-Quest 25 днів тому

      @@Supernautiloid Well, cool beans. Thanks for sharing that. That isn’t the way a normal amp works, but I guess this isn’t really a “normal” amp. Assuming the Bloka Mugt Amp Sim followed this same methodology, I should be able to test this out. I still wish they had added a switch or a control to disable the cab sim. I like using the XLR outputs to go directly to my USB audio interface. Thanks again!
